Through Gwinnett Humane Society’s Foster Home program, our volunteers and their families open their hearts and homes to provide comfort and care for homeless and unwanted animals in our community while they await adoption through our Placement program. Many of these foster animals enter our lives only for a brief time before they are placed in new and loving homes. While these adoptions warm our hearts and fill us with a sense of pride, our true accomplishments sometimes come in very different packages. Often times, we find ourselves faced with animals in need of costly, extensive medical treatment, sometimes forcing us to make critical decisions.

What is the SUNSHINE FUND?
The Sunshine Fund allows you to help make a difference in the lives of these animals. Through your donation to this fund, you can help “spread a little sunshine” and allow them the second chance they so truly deserve.

How will my money be used?
These special animals will be profiled in our Sunshine Spotlight on our website and in our quarterly and online newsletters. Your donation will enable us to provide the veterinary care and rehabilitation necessary to place these animals for adoption. We will follow their progress and share their journey with you as they travel down the road to health and happiness.

All donations designated to the Sunshine Fund will be applied to expenses for animals profiled under the Sunshine program.

profiles - NOODLE (Dachshund) and MOSES (Tiffany Persian)

NOODLE is an adorable black and tan Dachshund, approximately 2 years old. She was rescued by a Good Samaritan and turned over to GHS upon discovering she is heartworm positive.

Currently in the care of a foster home, she is undergoing heartworm treatment and proving her originally shy and quiet demeanor was all a front to worm her way into our hearts! This seemingly timid little girl is anything but...she is a confident, intelligent, conniving little creature you cannot help but completely adore!

Although under confinement following the first of her treatments, she has become quite the little manipulator...knowing exactly how to get what she wants - whether a stolen bite of canned cat food from the kitties or being spoiled enough to ensure she doesn’t have to walk on wet grass after a rain to potty. She never ceases to amaze us with her intelligence, willfulness, and spirit.

She still has a few treatments ahead...and we know, by then, we’ll be even more smitten! Your Sunshine Fund donation can help us get her ready to go to her new forever home.

MOSES (a.k.a. “Mr. Mosey”) is one of the sweetest kitties you will ever meet! This beautiful silver-tipped Tiffany Persian is approximately 10 years old and will be looking for a permanent home soon where he can spend the rest of his life. Originally adopted several years ago, he has recently been returned due to these difficult economic times.

When he first arrived back in our care, he was sporting his seasonal “lion cut”. He is still working on growing out his coat and realizes his picture does not do him justice. Other than grooming, he is very low maintenance but promises he is FULL of love and affection!

This sweet boy seems at ease with cat-friendly pets (dogs or cats) as long as they give him his space and don’t chase or challenge him. He is looking for a warm, comfy, quiet home with a comfy couch and a snuggly lap to call his own.

This loving, gentle boy knows exactly how to steal your heart! He asks very little other than a daily tidbit of a healthy canned food (and, yes...he does ask...with the sweetest voice you’ve ever heard), a consistent diet to control his urinary tract health, and semi-annual check-ups to ensure he is in the best of health
during his senior years.

Right now, Moses needs to undergo a thorough check-up before he can be placed up for adoption. He has had some health concerns with regard to his urinary health which have been managed through standard (non-prescription) diet in his former home, but he needs blood work and a few other tests run to ensure he is still well before he can be placed up for adoption. Your donation through The Sunshine Fund can help us get him checked out and ready to find his perfect new family.
